As your child begins school at Our Lady of the Way Primary School, they commence a new phase in their life. Some of you will have encountered this experience with previous children, for others it will be a new step.
The Prep Year is the important, first year of full-time schooling. Prep is designed to strengthen links between the Prep Year and Year 1, promoting continuity of children's progress throughout the early years.
We look forward to welcoming you into our school community and sharing your child's educational journey with you. Together we help our children grow and become successful and caring community members.
Prep Eligibility
In Queensland, it is compulsory for your child to complete Prep before progression to Year 1. Your child will become eligible for Prep if they are aged 5 years by 30 June in the year of proposed attendance. Early or delayed entry to Prep may be considered in specific circumstances, and if deemed in the best educational interest of your child. Our Lady of the Way Primary School and Brisbane Catholic Education follow the Queensland Department of Education's position on early entry and delayed entry.
